Sara Siner Darling

Sara works with a wide range of individuals in various treatment contexts including individual therapy with adults and adolescents, marital/couple therapy, and family therapy.  Her areas of particular clinical interest include interpersonal and relationship problems, resolution of marital conflict, experiences of depression, anxiety, and trauma/abuse, issues of self-esteem, self-confidence, and development of personal identity. She has specific training in the Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) model to address issues specific in adoption and attachment.  Sara also believes it is important to work with issues of faith and spirituality when they naturally emerge during the process of change and growth.  Sara views it as an honor and a privilege to collaborate with individual, couples, and families as they tackle uniquely painful experiences and find within the courage and vulnerability to transform themselves and their relationships.

Sara Siner-Darling earned a BA from Lipscomb University (Nashville, TN) in 2003 and a MMFT (Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy) from Abilene Christian University (Abilene, TX) in 2005.  She is licensed in the state of Kentucky as a Marriage and Family Therapist and a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.

Payment

Services are provided on a fee for service basis.  Check, Cash, Visa, Discover, and MasterCard are accepted for payment of services at the time of service.

  • Intake Session – $175
  • Individual Session – $140
  • Couples Session – $160
  • Concierge Counseling – $250 (arranged outside of regular office hours or sessions at your office)

WAIT, COUNSELING COSTS HOW MUCH??
But before you collapse at the price, think about how much:

  • a wedding costs
  • divorce costs
  • a haircut costs
  • a nice dinner costs

And how valuable having a better, stronger, and more secure relationship is to you. Therapy is expensive, and when you have so many other bills to pay, including babysitting in order to get to counseling, every dollar hurts. However, I would like to encourage you to think about your mental health and relationship health as something to invest in.

Insurance

Do you accept my insurance?

This is often one of the first questions I’m asked in a consultation to see if I’m a good fit for someone as a therapist.

The simple answer is  – not anymore.

Insurance requires me to diagnose a client and that diagnosis that will stick with them for life.  They also have to ability to ask for my notes that are supposed to be confidential.  If they don’t like how quickly someone is progressing or the issues being discussed they can choose to quit paying for sessions.  This means I have chosen to be out of network with insurance companies.

Insurance companies have also made it difficult for therapists to be compensated for the years of experience or extensive training they may acquire after licensure and often pay a flat rate regardless of experience.  I realized I would never work for a corporate business that didn’t compensate me based on my years in the profession or that didn’t give me raises based on performance.  While I often help clients advocate for themselves, this was a way I do the same for the quality of care I offer to my clients.

“Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy—the experiences that make us the most vulnerable. Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.”
